Apple IPod Headphones: Choosing the Right Headphones

by Robert February 9, 2020
written by Robert

Apple IPods hit the market a few years ago, and they can now be found everywhere. There are millions of them in use worldwide. The transformation of personal audio is astounding. We’ve gone from the original transistor radios all the way up to the ubiquitous iPod. However, although most people own an Apple iPod, many do not own what I feel is most important – a good quality set of iPod headphones.

Owning a great listening device such as the Apple iPod is, excellent but if you do not have a unique, high-quality set of iPod headphones, you are certainly missing out on some of the best features of the Apple iPod. Although the Apple iPod is a fantastic personal listening device, the quality of sound that you hear coming from it will not be done justice unless you own a good set of iPod headphones. You pretty much get what you pay for. If you go out and purchase a reduced set of iPod headphones, the sound you are going to hear is quite likely to be miserable also. Buy a high-quality collection of Apple iPod headphones, and you will undoubtedly hear the difference in sound.

Apple iPod headphones can be purchased just about anywhere. You will find Apple IPod headphones at virtually every store that carries the actual Apple iPod or other personal listening devices. There is no shortage of Apple iPod headphones. For example, there are companies such as Sennheiser, Etymotic Research, and such. However, there are other off-brand and store-brand Apple IPod headphones available as well. For the audiophile, store-brand and generic Apple iPod headphones just will not cut it. True audiophiles swill notices the difference in sound from a generic brand set of IPod headphones almost immediately.

They should consider several factors when shopping for Apple iPod headphones. Most people will often consider cost first when purchasing something such as iPod headphones. The least expensive type of IPod headphones is the supra-aural type of headphones. These types of IPod headphones sit on the ear itself, and although they are the least expensive class of iPod headphones, they are probably not the best option for audiophiles. If you are looking for high-quality IPod headphones, these are probably not what you want.

Circumaural IPod headphones are headphones that fit over the ears. These iPod headphones look a lot like earmuffs. I personally prefer these types of IPod headphones because they cover the ear entirely and block out much of the background noise as a result. Since these kinds of IPod headphones do a pretty good job of blocking out background noise, the sound quality that these IPod headphones produce is usually excellent.

Deciding what type of iPod headphones to purchase should not be based solely on the cost; however, the more expensive iPod headphones are usually the better ones. My suggestion is to shop around and try a few different types of iPod headphones before settling on a pair.

Yamaha RX V679 Reviews – Is It Worth The Money?

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

Despite being top-rated and scoring high at every level, previous models of Yamaha RX V679 have always had a “but” or an “if”, whether it was the price or the lack of some highly expected features. Sure, both the V675 and V677 units were good and outperformed the competition, but small details kept them away from the first spot.

Based on a series of Yamaha RX V679 reviews, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to change all these minuses and come up with something that can successfully top the market. But then, just like any other company, Yamaha claims its unit is the best on the market. As I have tested it myself, I would be lying if I claimed I did not have any disappointments.

So, what should you know about it?

Features to top the segment

Previous models have topped the market on multiple aspects, but altogether, they were taken over by the competition. This one comes as an improvement. I have tested both the V675 and the V677 and I must say the V679 features a bigger and more spacious sound. The quality is so much higher that it becomes the first thing you notice.

Not only that, but the sound is also engaging and balanced – watch an action movie and it feels like you are right there, in the middle of the action. As for dialogues, they are crisp clear. You could swear they are right there next to you.

Who Yamaha RX V679 is for

Honestly, I believe this is among the higher end products out there. I would not buy it if I was not a tech freak. At the same time, if you have a quality home cinema system, you will need a proper receiver too. Simply match quality standards for every other piece of equipment.

On another hand, if you barely watch a movie once a week and you might as well watch it on your laptop with the built in speakers, you do not really need an AV receiver.

Yamaha RX-V679 Review

Why Yamaha RX V679 matches most buyers’ needs

So, what do you look for in an AV receiver? You want as many inputs as possible, right? You want enough for whatever you have around, but also some extra for future technologies. You can leave yourself in good hands with Yamaha then.

Then, you want a top-notch quality. At this point, most Yamaha RX V679 reviews agree that it feels a bit tough to beat this product.

Like I said in the beginning, I was a bit disappointed with the fact that Yamaha still has not integrated Dolby Atmos, yet the high quality sound can compensate for it to a certain point.

Technical specs

Now, what kind of features does Yamaha plan to use in order to dominate the segment?

Sound quality

To me, an intense action movie blockbuster will give me all the details I need. I tried a couple of movies with my friends and the amp feels like it throws itself inside the movie. Every punch is taken and redelivered to you with a solid impact and a great feeling. Glass shattering? I cannot imagine a clearer sound than this one.

Whether it comes to a busy scene or a quiet dialogue, the sound is crisp and neat.

Setup and configuration

The setup is quite intuitive – the proprietary YPAO calibration system will take care of everything for you. You can also enable YPAO Volume features during the setup, but I kept it off for less interferences with the original sound.

Other than that, you got a 7.2 channel amp with 90W for each channel. You have six HDMI inputs – five at the back and one at the front, as well as a single output. This is a minus if you want to get a second screen. But other than that, there are no issues.

Inputs and capabilities

All the HDMI inputs are 2.0a. Basically, they can take HDR content (yay!), not to mention 4K content – 60fps only, not more. Three of these inputs are also rated as HDCP 2.2. The configuration aims to add compatibility with 4K Blu-Ray players and other similar technologies.

When it comes to 4K content, you can count on the 4:4:4 signal for the video as well. In other words, colors will be faultless.

Interface and package

The interface is straightforward, but it will take you a few minutes to get used to it if this is your first AV receiver. Get the controller app as well (free of charge), yet you also have a remote-controlled.

You can connect the unit to the Internet wirelessly and stream music through various portals. Bluetooth is available too.

Final words

In conclusion, it is no surprise why you can find so many Yamaha RX V679 reviews out there. While not perfect, I find this AV receiver to have all the features you need. I would say it is future proof and can successfully handle one’s needs for many years.

Yamaha RX V381 Review – Knowing What Top Features Actually Mean

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

Yamaha RX V381 may not look like such a big difference from the previously released models. It has similar buttons on the front, yet it is a bit more compact and smaller – just enough to get a good accommodation under the TV stand or anywhere in the area.

The receiver is rated to be an entry-level model. It does not overflow with bells and whistles – after all, who needs all those random features that only add to the price? Instead, it is a focused performer coming with just the right capabilities.

My Yamaha RX V381 review will help you determine whether or not this receiver is what your home cinema system needs. It is suitable for a series of other uses as well. So, what should you know about it before spending your money?

What makes Yamaha RX V381 a sound performer

The overall performance recommends this receiver for most home applications. The sound is articulate and quick. With certain movies or games, it will make everything feel like you are right there in the middle of action.

It truly impressed me during dialogues. Voices are quite expressive and you can sense tones in a completely new way.

On another note, while this is not my first receiver, I found it very easy to set up. Everything is straightforward and simple – no need for previous experience.

Yamaha RX V381

Who Yamaha RX V381 is for

I find the RX V381 model suitable for two categories.

First, you got those who want quality. We all know how poorly designed TV speakers are – the issue is just part of the thin design style. After all, where are you going to fit some decent speakers? It makes no difference if you are after quality games or you have a small home cinema in a room. If you want quality sound, this receiver can make it happen.

Second, you have those who want value for money. The AV receiver features just what you need. It is priced accordingly – no bells and whistles. Who needs them anyway?

However, if the budget is not an issue for you and you want the latest technologies, this AV receiver may not be the best option for you. It can get the job done, but you want bells and whistles – not going to find them here.

Technical features

Now, what should you know about its features and specifications?

Sound quality

I have tried this receiver with everything. I tried it with both action and horror movies. The fact that it impresses in sound should not be a surprise – after all, Yamaha’s latest releases have dominated the market.

Whether it comes to punches, shots, ghostly whispers or dialogues, close your eyes and you can feel the action around you.

So, what will actually impress you? The detail. You will never read a negative Yamaha RX V381 review about small details. Every detail is detected and successfully represented throughout your speakers.

Connectivity

Yamaha has kept in simple in terms of connectivity. Think about it – what else do you need apart from USB and Bluetooth connectivity? You can hook pretty much any device through a classic USB connection. If you want to go wirelessly, you can also use the Bluetooth connectivity.

I found it surprising that even if you hook in some lower quality files, the Compressed Music Enhancer will still get as much as possible out of them and provide rich sounds in a smooth ambiance. A remote controller is included in the package for more convenience.

Numbers and specs

The AV receiver is a 5.1 surround sound unit. Each channel features 100 watts. It is compatible with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 technologies, but it will also handle 4K signals with no issues at all. It is HDR compatible too.

While the sound quality is quite good out of the box, you have an automatic setup calibration. The on screen GUI will make it easier for you. Everything is intuitive, so you do not have too much hassle.

Extras

Yamaha RX V381 is not entirely free of bells and whistles. The YPAO speaker setup will measure the room and set the unit accordingly. You also have a free application to help using the menu, not to mention connectivity.

Final words

As a short final conclusion, Yamaha has created yet another successful product that will most likely dominate the market for a while. The RX V381 unit comes to continue the tradition of some flawless AV receivers released over the past years.

My Yamaha RX V381 review is straight to the point. You will get more than what you pay for. You have a leading product from a reputable manufacturer. You get all the features needed to enhance your experience, but no random stuff that will only boost the price.

Vizio M50-D1 Review – A Different Way To Watch TV

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

Out on the market for a new television set? You might be familiar with top manufacturers, as well as low budget names. Just because you want something in the middle, it does not mean that you can ditch entry level companies – exactly! You would be surprised.

Vizio is probably known for its entry level TVs – basic features, good quality standards, and decent prices. However, the past few years have shown us that Vizio can also play along with the big boys. In fact, the M and the P series can easily go above the average bargain collection.

I was just as surprised when I got my first Vizio TV. In fact, this Vizio M50-D1 review will help you understand why picture quality and performance will beat anyone in this range – including big names like Sony or Samsung. The entry-level market has just become competitive and interesting…

VIZIO SmartCast™ M-Series 50

The catch with Vizio M50-D1

Alright, so I was out there looking for a new TV. This one has the feature and image quality of a high end unit, but it costs three times less. I knew Vizio was an entry level company, so how come they managed to provide all those without increasing the price?

The TV works with a tablet only. Nothing to worry about – the Android tablet is included in the price. It is essential for streaming application access, as well as all kinds of settings. While it is different, it is still similar to a big screen operation. It feels a bit unusual at first, but it is worth the savings.

Also, it has no tuner, so you cannot come up with an antenna. To watch TV, I had to get a third party tuner box. But then again, it feels a bit less convenient, but you save lots of money, so it is worth it.

Who Vizio M50-D1 is for

If you have a smartphone or a tablet, you will get along with this set. You will figure out how it works immediately. Basically, this set is for everyone who wants to save money without compromising quality – everyone who is familiar with how touchscreen devices work.

On the other hand, I would never buy one of these for my grandmother. She can barely operate a classic remote controller and she has no idea what half the functions do. Having her run stuff through a tablet would make the TV unusable.

Vizio M50-D1 over other M series screens

There are more screens released in this M series – 55, 60, 65, 70 and 80. Apart from the screen size and the type, there are no differences. One exception though – M60-D1 comes with an IPS panel. Other than that, it is mostly a personal preference of screen size, which will also reflect on the price.

Features and specifications

So, what else can you expect from this unusual screen?

4K content

You may run into an older Vizio M50-D1 review claiming on the lack of access to 4K content – 2015 and older models though. The 2016 releases feature HEVC and VP9 4K access. In other words, your high definition content access has been increased.

Other than that, one of the reasons why I chose this TV was the implementation of HDR10 and Dolby Vision. I could get HDS content from Amazon Prime and Netflix – some of my main priorities when getting a new TV.

Controls

Alright, so, at a first glance, it looks like the tablet is responsible for all controls. I like a classic remote controller – I want to change the channel, turn the volume up or down without taking my eyes off the screen. Sure, you get used to it, but still. The tablet comes with Vizio’s application preinstalled.

Luckily, Vizio also includes a small remote controller for basic functions – volume, input, aspect ratio and a few others. Let me add that you can also invest in a quality universal controller – Vizio is compatible with plenty of solid brands.

Processor

When most 4K TVs come with a quad core processor, Vizio has implemented an octa core processor on its M and P series – extra speed, lots of power and no freezing. Besides, such a processor will work with native 4K content with no issues at all.

LED backlighting

Vizio has also focused on full array LED backlighting. Now, I have tried a few high end TVs from other manufacturers and Vizio’s technology is not as robust, but it is clearly impressive, especially as the price is significantly lower. Moreover, the technology comes with local dimming.

Final words

In the end, I hope my Vizio M50-D1 review has made it clear for you. To keep it simple, Vizio has brought in many features and technologies you would only find in high end TVs – all these while keeping prices low and reducing the convenience a bit. Is it worth? I say it is, but it is up to you to set your priorities.

Vizio M Series 4K Reviews – Wait A Second Before You Go Shopping

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

There are lots of Vizio M Series 4K reviews out there and I am not surprised. There are more TVs in this series and they mostly differ by the screen size. Generally speaking, they are rated as average, but to be honest with you, their wide range of uses and high-quality standards put them in the above-average segment.

What makes this TV so popular is the fact that it can boost some high-end features without altering the price. Sure, just like any other TV in this segment, it does have a few flaws, but they are insignificant to the average user.

I found some interesting surprises as I “test drove” one of these babies, especially since I had the previous model as well and I had a good starting point. So, what should you know before spending your money?

What makes the Vizio M Series 4K stand out

The Vizio M Series 4K reviews impressed me with its inputs. It was one of the things that make it superior to its competition. It can play pretty much any type of content – HDR as well. The input lag is extremely low, whether you watch HDR or SDR content – two times less than the previous model.

The set can easily take 4K content at 60Hz at 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 color. It makes no difference what port you use – just make sure you turn the full UHD color setting on. When compared to previous models, new releases also come with tuners.

Vizio M Series 4K

Who should buy the Vizio M Series 4K

I find the Vizio M Series 4K set suitable for the average viewer. Whether you spend 10 hours a day watching TV shows and the news or you only do it before you go to sleep, this TV is excellent. It is just as handy for a small home cinema system.

Who is it not for then? Well, those picky users who want perfection will not be happy. It cannot come up with saturated HDR highlights. Image can also degrade when you go to a wide or sharp angle. You can watch it from one side, but being at 55 degrees or less will make colors fade. It is more than enough to have a couch and a few armchairs full of people to watch it though.

Technical features

Now, what exactly should you expect in terms of technical features?

Design and style

The TV feels sturdy when you put it on. It is thin and sleek. It is not curved – a plus for those who dislike this style. I loved the stand – different from what we are used to. There are two V’s on each side. As for its metallic borders, they provide a more luxurious look.

Cable management has not been sorted by Vizio yet, so it is your responsibility. But on a positive note, inputs are located right by the side. They are easily accessible.

Picture quality

Picture quality has not disappointed me. The contrast ratio 4598:1 is great, so the black feels deep and dark, even in light conditions. At the same time, the color accuracy will surprise you for a middle range TV.

You have a good brightness level and can easily avoid glaring problems. Therefore, the TV is good for both bright and dark rooms. Viewing angles are, indeed, a bit limited, but you can still have 10 people watching it at the same time from the right distance.

Motion and response time

Motion handling is good, while the response time is 5.6 milliseconds at 80%. It can compete against high end TVs too – little to no motion blur. In order to dim, the backlight relies on PWM. If you are worried about flicker, you should know there is a bit. However, most people will not notice it.

Even if you cannot see it, the backlight will work on it and reduce it. Motion will be more fluent.

Sound

Sound quality will not stand out in the crowd, but it will not disappoint you either. You can get the TV quite loud – great for rooms and large living rooms. It is not the best option for busy business environments though. The bass is not impressive, but there. The distortion is low and dialogs are clean.

I recommend a sound bar – well, I already had one for my previous TV, so there was no difference. Sure, this is a good choice if you are a sound freak or you want an immersing home cinema experience – most people will get along with the native system.

Final words

In conclusion, it is no surprise why you have so many Vizio M Series 4K reviews out there. The TV is an excellent middle range option. It has a few insignificant flaws, as well as some features that are more common in high end TVs. For mixed usage, it is a perfect option.

Vizio E43U-D2 Review – When Value For Money Becomes A Priority

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

Vizio represents a low-cost alternative to big brands like Sony or Samsung. To lots of people, a Vizio TV is pretty much the same TV sold by big brands, only it lacks all those bells and whistles that no one really needs – yet, they would be cool to have. At the same time, it is said you often pay for the name, rather than the actual quality.

My Vizio E43U-D2 review targets an entry-level TV with all the must-have features, as well as a few extras that will make it stand out in the crowd. When it comes to watching TV, it does pretty much what every other big-brand set does, only it costs less.

But here comes the big question – is the quality directly proportional to the price? Will it face the test of time?

Who Vizio E43U-D2 is for

Vizio E43U-D2 is for the average TV viewer – mixed everyday uses and gamers. Whether you watch TV for movies or news, have a small home cinema in your house or play games on a regular basis, I think this TV set will make you happy.

On the other hand, if you are the type who wants the latest hype in technology and dreams of all the bells and whistles that may come with it, this TV is not for you. The same rule applies if you are avid about small details, such as a perfect viewing angle or the highest FPS rating out there. This TV can and will deliver quality, but it will not have all those fancy features that most people will not even need after all.

VIZIO - 43 Class

What makes Vizio E43U-D2 stand out

There are no doubts about it – cost efficiency is what triggered it for me. This TV provides the best image quality on the market in this segment. Local dimming is responsible for it. It can compete against high-end TVs, but it also dominates every other unit in this range.

On the other hand, I liked the Google Cast system. Built in, the system provides more applications than other smart TVs – I am talking about smart TVs coming from big brands. Apart from more apps, it also comes with more frequent updates.

It does have a few flaws – small and insignificant, indeed. But overall, pros are stunning and this TV has given me the best value for money.

Features and specifications

So, moving on with my Vizio E43U-D2 review, what kind of features define this system?

Style and design

Although nicer designed that the previous model, the style is still classic and it cannot compete against high end TVs. Fortunately, it is no longer blocky and bulky. It is slightly thicker than others, but sleek and good looking. The back is smoothly curved. As for the stand, it comes with two feet that look quite interesting due to a patterned design based on holes.

Image quality

Picture quality is in the top part of this segment. The 3340:1 contrast is great and black is actually dark. Performance of Blu-Ray or DVD movies is smooth. In my opinion, the lack of HDR content support is what puts this TV in the entry level range. Otherwise, it would definitely be higher.

Local dimming is a plus. Native colors are great, but you can still calibrate it through a smartphone or a tablet. As for the viewing angle, the image degrades when you get too much on one side or another. I would recommend 65 degrees or more for a perfect image.

Inputs

You have enough inputs for a quality experience – four HDMI, two USB and one Ethernet. All inputs are conveniently located on the left side – easy to use even if the TV is mounted against a wall.

The input law is low, yet video game performance might be blurry in fast scenes.

Smart capabilities

The E43U-D2 model is based on SmartCast, which is quite similar to ChromeCast. Casting services require a tablet. The P Series from Vizio used to come with a tablet. But for this one, you will have to use your own.

There are no built in tuners, so cables and antennas cannot be connected. However, a separate tuner will make it happen.

The system is ad free. A remote controller is also included in the package.

Sound

The sound quality is quite good for a TV and can compete against higher end models. I was not too impressed with the bass response, but I was not expecting anything too unusual either. Just like for any other thin TV, speakers are alright, but you might need a proper speaker bar for a home cinema.

Final words

Bottom line, I hope my Vizio E43U-D2 review will clear it out for you. The set is excellent for 95% of all people, especially given the great value for money.

Sony STR DN1060 Reviews – Main Things To Know Before Buying It

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

Sony has always been a top player on the budget AV receiver market. However, its competition has been just as harsh. Whether you count Onkyo, Marantz or other names, they have always put up a good game against the Japanese manufacturer. Given the plethora of Sony STR DN1060 reviews out there, one might think that Sony has finally managed to pull it off.

Sony has tried to push the segment a bit further by adding to quality standards and reliability. Did it actually succeed to do so? In my review, I will break down the popular AV receiver’s parts to help you understand whether or not this is the right choice for you.

Believe it or not, I was quite surprised as well the first time I got it on my hands. Now, what should you know before making a decision?

What to look for when buying AV receivers

Always – I insist, always – check the number of connections. There are never too many of them. More is better. Think about all the stuff that is coming. You will end up with plenty of new devices to hook up. This is what the future looks like and you definitely want to be there.

Now, the AV receiver should work with current TVs, future TVs and all kinds of video devices. Look for 4K capabilities, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Do not overlook HDR formats either.

As for the number of channels, there are no maximum channels. You need two but go for at least five. For a proper home cinema experience, I would never go under seven, to be honest.

7.2-channel home theater receiver

What makes Sony STR DN1060 a good choice

Cost efficiency is the reason for all those Sony STR DN1060 reviews you see everywhere. You get a fully-featured unit at a good price. It is more expensive than other units, but it has way more features. It is well worth the money.

Second, I was impressed by the sound quality. Room calibration was flawless. The sound is literally amazing. Dialogues are crisp and the sound is clean and clear. You will feel like in a proper cinema.

Plus, let me add – the often overlooked remote controller is so easy to use. It is one of those things that satisfy you as you use them.

Who Sony STR DN1060 is for

I have a home cinema in my basement, so this is why I need an AV receiver. No matter where you have your home cinema, if you want to enjoy a quality movie on a regular basis and feel like in a proper cinema, an AV receiver is a must.

If you are happy watching a movie on your laptop and having the built-in speakers do the “magic” for you, be my guest. But if you want a thorough experience, the receiver is a must.

Technical specifications

Now, what should you expect from Sony STR DN1060?

Sound quality

Sound effects are crisp in movies and games, while dialogue was just as clear. An explosion feels heavy. A punch feels painful. Everything feels more realistic – you have a sense of space and dimension. Dynamics? No comment – you get what you would normally have in high end receivers.

The bass needs some calibration, but once you are done, you will enjoy a direct experience. There are no bells and whistles and if I think about it, you do not even need them.

Build and inputs

The design is classic – a good looking sleek black box under your TV. The 7.2 channel receiver brings in six HDMI inputs (five at the back and one at the front) and two outputs. You also have a classic USB port, not to mention the Ethernet connectivity.

Wireless connectivity is also possible via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. While there is no Dolby Atmos support, the receiver works flawlessly with DTS and Dolby. You can have it play different speakers in different rooms at different volumes. You can also watch HDR and 4K content. Do not overlook application control or FM radio either.

What is included

So, what do you have in the package? Once I removed the ugly polystyrene inserts, I found the two main things I needed. Apart from the receiver, you have a remote controller and a microphone. The microphone is useful for room calibration – you will probably never touch it again though. The process is straightforward.

As for the remote controller, I know no one pays attention to these things, but it is surprisingly good. The design is perfect – it feels like it was created for your hand. You will press buttons without even looking after a few hours.

Final words

Bottom line, I think I know why there are so many Sony STR DN1060 reviews everywhere. This model dominates this segment. It is in the top middle range and features elements that you can only find in high end models – great value for money.

SanDisk Clip Jam Review – Welcome Back, MP3 Players!

by Robert October 3, 2019
written by Robert

To lots of people, MP3 players are all about yesterday. Today, most people stream music through their smartphones. However, there are situations when you need to preserve battery on a long trip or perhaps you simply want a separate device for your music. Besides, I hate finding a place for my smartphone while I run or go to the gym, so an MP3 player for such activities is perfect.

The good news is the drop in popularity means lower prices. From this point of view, my SanDisk Clip Jam review will introduce you to a simple, yet innovative MP3 player that can work wonders. Not only is it cheap, but it is also small, features a microSD card slot for more memory and has features that Apple iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle do not have.

What else should you know before buying it?

Who SanDisk Clip Jam is for

Personally, while I do have a smartphone with lots of music, I find it difficult to keep an eye on it in the gym. There are no pockets in my gym equipment and I keep forgetting it next to one machine or another. The MP3 player clips on and is lightweight, so it will never bug me.

Other than that, there are times when I travel by train and I do not have a charger. Playing music for seven hours continuously will drain some of my smartphone battery – usually when I need it the most. Whether I need the satnav when I reach my destination or I want to take pictures, I need the battery. For such situations, SanDisk Clip Jam is just perfect.

SanDisk Clip Jam review

What makes SanDisk Clip Jam such a good choice

When you think MP3 player, you think Apple iPod Nano or Shuffle. They are trendier, but a few times more expensive than SanDisk Clip Jam. It might be a bit bigger, but it is still lightweight, compact and easy to take everywhere.

Other than that, SanDisk Clip Jam has something that no iPod has ever dreamed about – the microSD memory slot. In other words, you can boost its memory from 8GB to 64GB – much more than Nano (16GB) or Shuffle (2GB).

I am no longer storing tracks on it, but full albums… And I still got plenty of space left.

Best of all, forget about iTunes to transfer music. Do it the easy way – drag and drop.

Technical features

Moving on with my SanDisk Clip Jam review, what should you know in terms of tech specs?

Style and design

The MP3 player is small and compact. You can clip it onto your T shirt – it weighs less than an ounce. It can even go on a collar or your glasses. It has a budget price, so do not expect any fancy materials. The case is made of plastic, while the matte coating makes it prone to scratches.

Let me add that it is not waterproof. Therefore, when you sweat like a pig in the gym, make sure it is not exposed. Since it is so lightweight, pay attention to it or you might drop it in the washing machine with your sweaty shirt.

Setup

The setup is straightforward and intuitive. Grab some songs on your computer, hook the MP3 player in with the micro USB cable in the package and you are ready to go. Forget about looking through that box of old cables trying to find something suitable.

You can organize music in folders for a better organization. After all, you have 8GB of memory. I have tried both 32GB and 64GB microSD cards and they work – quite a good deal for such a small player.

Sound quality

I loved the fact that you are not limited to MP3 files only. Instead, you can take WMA, WAV, ACC or DRM files too. The sound? Amazing! Honestly, for this small device, the sound leaves no room for mistakes. Sure, you also have a powerful equalizer – go to the settings to access it. There are no distortions at all.

I was a bit worried about radio because these features do not always sound good. They are usually distorted, but not with SanDisk Clip Jam. There is one issue though – no AM radio.

Battery

I never count on what manufacturers claim – all those “up to” statements under certain conditions and all that. They say it lasts 10 hours and you are lucky to go for seven. So… I fully load a device and try it out to determine the battery life myself.

The battery will last for around 20 hours. It is quite a long time to go on without worrying about charging it – plus, it preserves the smartphone battery. A full charge from scratch takes about three hours.

Final words

In the end, I hope my SanDisk Clip Jam review can help you out. The MP3 player is simplistic, but it has what you need – great audio quality, long battery life and less than an ounce in weight. All these for like no money. What else can you ask for?
