”Fragrance dress” was commissioned and created for Unilever's Creative Space, which is an experimental wearable piece, designed to augment the social interaction of the wearer with other human beings surrounding environment of the dress. Based on people’s proximity, this interactive piece unlocks different essential scents from the 3D Printed flowers to attract and provide a calm environment.
The behavior of the dress inspired by the plants' pollination period, the clothing mimics the process through which flowers emit odors in order to attract pollinators.
3D Printed Flower Structures have built-in fans powered by Arduino Micro, and these six 3D Printed flowers receive data from the proximity sensor built into the dress. Stratasys Object Connex500 printer is used to 3d print these specially designed flower structures to embed the inner system including fans and the proximity sensor. The proximity sensor measures other people's closeness to the dress, which unlocks different essential fragrances from 3d printed flowers.
When a person enters the environment of the interactive dress, the piece starts emitting a mixture of different aphrodisiac scents to attract this person. Once the person gets closer to the wearer, the clothing begins emitting a blend of different relaxing fragrances to provide a calm environment for both this person and the wearer.
between 20-50 cm flowers 4, 5 & 6 start emitting Jasmine and Ylang-ylang which are aphrodisiac scents to increase attractiveness of the wearer
between 5-19 cm flowers 1, 2 & 3 start emitting Sandalwood, Lavender, Chamomile, Rose which are soothing scents to provide a calm but intimate environment for both the wearer and the other people.
